Privacy
The short version: this site sets no cookies of its own, sells nothing it learns, and doesn't follow you around the web.
Who runs it
austinlin.com is Austin S. Lin's personal site, run from Cambridge, Massachusetts. Questions go to [email protected].
What the site collects
- Page counts. Visits are counted with Plausible Analytics, which runs on our own server. It records the page, the referring site, the country and the type of device, without cookies and without storing your IP address.
- Cloudflare. The site is served through Cloudflare, which handles every request, including your IP address, to deliver and protect the site. Cloudflare also counts page loads with its own cookieless analytics, and may set a short-lived security cookie if it needs to check that a visitor isn't a bot.
- Fonts. Pages load their typefaces from Google Fonts, so your browser asks Google's servers for them and Google sees your IP address when it does.
- Your own browser. The home page remembers three display choices (motion, video playback and feral mode) in your browser's local storage. They stay on your device.
- Playground experiments. Some prototypes keep what you enter in your browser's local storage, and the circus skills tracker sends its entries to our own server on Cloudflare. Don't put anything private into an experiment.
If you write, the conversation is kept so it can be answered. Your address isn't added to a list, shared or sold.
